Taher’s Poster Presented at MASCIP 2018

Taher's Poster for MASCIP 2018 "Effects of VR on Balance & Gait After an SCI."

Our Neurological Physiotherapist Taher recently completed a study on the effects of Virtual Reality on Balance and Gait after an SCI.

We are pleased to announce that his poster was accepted and Taher presented his findings at MASCIP 2018 in November.

Summary of Taher's poster can found below and to view the full version please click on the image.

Virtual reality (VR) based therapy has been used as a treatment tool in neurological rehabilitation and represents an innovative approach for clients with a Spinal Cord Injury (SCI).

Virtual Reality efficiency has been demonstrated in the Stroke population, in particular for gait and balance when used as an adjunct to standard therapy.

This case study aims at demonstrating the feasibility of using the MindMotion GO independently by a SCI client in a clinic environment.

The independent use and high compliance is promising for the adoption of VR based therapy. Improvement in gait, balance and confidence demonstrates that VR could be an efficient tool for clients with an incomplete SCI.

Further studies looking into effects and benefits of VR on clients with SCI with a larger sample size is required.
