International Day Of People with Disability

Here at PhysioFunction we pride ourselves on helping all our clients achieve their goals and maximise their full potential. One of our clients was a keen climber one of her long-term goals was to return to climbing. We broke down this goal into achievable pieces and eventually with the support of one of our physiotherapists went to a local climbing wall and she was able to try climbing again for the first time. Another of our clients a highly decorated fly angler who having gained many gold medals representing England in competitions, was very keen to be able to return to fishing with the support of his physio brought in his rods and practiced casting in a nearby field.

A long-term client 6 years post stroke had a dream to complete the marathon de sables a six day 251km ultramarathon, regarded as the toughest foot race on earth. In order to do this, he needed a support team so with the help of his friend and our company Director Jon Graham they planned a rigorous training programme, raised the funds to enter and travelled to Southern Morocco to trek across the Sahara Desert.

Closer to home many of our clients just want to be able to have the confidence to get out and spend time with friends and family socially. We’ve spent time at clients homes helping them overcome access issues and finding safe strategies to be able to achieve things often taken for granted like picking up the daily paper and taking a walk in the park.

When a disability happens we like to think that it is just the start of a new chapter in your life.
